7 Resources to Help You Find Solar Job Opportunities
A common question that we get from individuals taking our courses is, “where do I look for job opportunities in the solar industry?†This is an important question because knowing where to look for solar job opportunities is critical to successfully finding employment. In this post, we have identified 7 resources that you can use when searching for a solar job.
1. Solar Energy Industries Association’s Solar Job Board
SEIA’s career center is the headquarters for today’s solar professionals. Job seekers can search through the newest and best solar industry jobs, and display your resume for employers to review.
2. A&R Solar’s Jobs in Solar Flowchart
A&R Solar created a great flowchart to help you better understand the kinds of solar jobs that might suit your skills, personality, and interests.
3. SolarPro Magazine’s Jobs Directory
SolarPro is a technical trade publication distributed to more than 20,000 professionals working in the North American solar market. SolarPro has more than 25 years of solar technology publishing experience. It is one of the most respected publications in the solar industry. Check out their solar jobs directory.
4. NABCEP’s Career Center
The Career Center is a place where job seekers can post their resume, apply for jobs, and get new job alerts. In addition, the Career Center offers helpful resources to job seekers such as career coaching, resume writing, and a career learning center.
5. Google
Google is an obvious resource in the search for solar job opportunties. However, instead of using search terms like “solar jobs”, use search terms like “solar companies near me”. This should show you a list of solar companies in your area and the links to their websites. Visit these websites and look for a jobs/careers page. These pages will have job listings that you can review and then submit an application.
6. Glassdoor & Indeed
Glassdoor and Indeed are broad employment search engines not exclusive to solar. Each website allows you to search for jobs, post your resume, and read company reviews from past/current employees. Use the search terms “solar” and your “city.”
7. ImagineSolar
Solar employers are always contacting us hoping to hire our alumni. Sign up for our newsletter to get our emails on current job opportunities. Also, give us a call (512-443-5725) and we will give you advice based on your background on how to proceed to start a career in the solar industry.
